Plumbers: Setout builds your website, usually within a couple of days of our call. See it before you pay.
£39 a month including VAT. Your domain's included, you can cancel any time and you pay nothing until it's live.
People look for a plumber at the worst moment: water coming through the ceiling, no hot water on a Sunday, a toilet that won't stop running. They search on their phone, open three or four websites and ring the first one that looks trustworthy and has a number they can tap. Your website has a few seconds to be that one.
Setout builds that website for you, on a design made for plumbers. Your number sits at the top of every page. Your services and prices, your Gas Safe details and your reviews are a scroll away. Enquiries land in your email the moment they're sent, and customers can book a boiler service online and get an email reminder the day before. You see the whole site on your phone before you pay a penny.
What every plumber's website needs
Whoever builds your website, these are the seven things that turn a visit into a phone call. Use them as a checklist for the site you have now.
A call button at the top
Someone with a leak doesn't want to fill in a form. Put your number at the top of every page as a button that rings you when tapped, and keep it in view as they scroll. A landline is fine, but a mobile you answer on the job is better.
On Setout: Every design shows your number as a tap-to-call button. Mercer keeps a call bar at the bottom of the screen on phones as customers scroll.
Your emergency hours, stated plainly
"24 hours, 7 days" or "Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm, emergencies until 10pm". Vague lines like "available when you need us" make people ring someone else. If you charge a call-out fee out of hours, say so and say what it covers.
On Setout: Switch on the emergency call-out bar and it runs across the top of every page with your number, your own wording and the area you cover. Your opening hours sit underneath.
The towns you cover
Google ranks local results on relevance, distance and prominence, in its own words. Naming the towns and postcodes you cover on your website helps with the first, and saves you calls from forty miles away.
On Setout: Add your towns in the editor and designs such as Mercer list them as the areas you cover. We also put them in your page text and title ("Plumber in Leeds"), so Google can see where you work.
Your Gas Safe number, and what it covers
By law, anyone working on gas appliances must be on the Gas Safe Register. Customers can check your number on the register's website in under a minute, and the careful ones do. Show your registration number and the kinds of work your card covers, such as boilers or cookers. If you're WaterSafe approved, say that too.
On Setout: Add your Gas Safe number in the editor and it shows in a strip at the top of your site, set apart so customers can check it.
Prices, or at least how you charge
You can't price a job you haven't seen, but you can say how you charge: an hourly rate, a fixed price for a boiler service, a call-out fee. A price on the page tells people you won't spring a surprise on them.
On Setout: Each service has its own price and description, and can have its own page on your site, so people searching "boiler service Leeds" can find you.
Real reviews, with names and towns
Three reviews with a first name and a town do more than twenty anonymous stars. Ask happy customers for a Google review the day you finish, while they're pleased, and put the best on your website.
On Setout: You add reviews to your site in a minute. After an online booking, Setout can email the customer a link to leave you a Google review.
A quote form that asks the right questions
Ask what the problem is, where it is and the best number to call back on. Ask for a photo: a photo of a leaking valve tells you which parts to bring and saves a wasted trip.
On Setout: Your enquiry form asks for the job and their name and number, then emails it to you the moment it's sent. Your mobile sits beside it for anyone who'd rather text you a photo.

Questions plumbers ask us
How quickly can you build a website for my plumbing business?
Usually within a couple of days of our call. Send us your Facebook page or a few photos of your work, your services and the towns you cover, and we'll do the rest. You see it on your phone before you pay anything.
Can customers book a boiler service online?
Yes. Add boiler servicing as a service with its price and how long it takes, and customers pick a time that suits them. You get the booking by email; they get a confirmation and an email reminder before the visit.
Can I show my Gas Safe registration on my website?
Yes, and you should. We put your registration number where customers look for it, so they can check it on the Gas Safe Register before they ring.
I already get work from Checkatrade or a Facebook page. Do I need a website as well?
Keep them both. Directories send you enquiries and Facebook keeps regulars in touch, but neither is yours. A website on your own address is where Google sends people who search for your trade and town, where a customer checks you out before they ring and where enquiries come straight to you with no fee per lead. Your Facebook page and your website can link to each other.
Can I keep my existing web address?
Yes. We connect the address you already have to your new site. If you don't have one, we register one for you, and it's included while you subscribe.
What does it cost, and is there a contract?
£39 a month including VAT, or £390 for the year. That's for the whole business, with hosting, security and your web address included, and no setup fee. There's no contract, so you can cancel any time, and if it isn't right for you we'll refund your first payment in full within 30 days. You pay nothing at all until your site is live.
