The Freshfold design on a phone: an example cleaner’s website with a quote form
An example cleaner's site on Setout, in the Freshfold design: a quote form that asks for bedrooms, bathrooms and how often. Built for you, and you see it before you pay.

You're asking customers to hand a stranger their keys. That's why people choosing a cleaner read a cleaning company's website closely before they get in touch. They want to know what you'll do, what it costs, who'll come and whether they can trust them in an empty house.

Setout builds you a website that answers all four, on a design made for cleaners. A short quote form asks how many bedrooms and bathrooms and how often, and sends you the answers by email. Regular customers book their clean online and get an email reminder the day before. You see the whole site on your phone before you pay a penny.

What every cleaner's website needs

Whoever builds your website, these seven things win a cleaner regular work. Use them as a checklist for the site you have now.

  1. What a clean includes

"A standard clean" means something different to everyone. List what's in it: kitchen surfaces and hob, bathrooms, hoovering and mopping, dusting, bins. List what costs extra: ovens, inside the fridge, windows, ironing. Customers who know what they're getting don't complain about what they didn't get.

On Setout: Each service has its own description and price, and can have its own page on your site, such as "end of tenancy cleaning Reading".

  2. Clear prices

Give an hourly rate and any minimum, or a fixed price by home size. Say whether you bring your own products and equipment. A price on the page saves you quoting for people who were never going to pay it.

On Setout: Prices sit next to each service, and you can change them yourself from your phone.

  3. A quote form that does the counting

Ask the questions that set your price: how many bedrooms and bathrooms, how often and which day suits. You'll quote in one message instead of three.

On Setout: The Freshfold design asks for bedrooms, bathrooms and how often, then emails you the answers with their name and number.

  4. Who will be cleaning

Introduce yourself and your team with a photo and a line each. Say that everyone has a basic DBS check if they do: anyone can apply for their own on GOV.UK, and customers increasingly ask.

On Setout: Your photos and your story go in your about section, written the way you would say it.

  5. How you look after keys

Say how you store keys: coded, never labelled with an address and kept locked away. It's a small line that answers a big worry.

On Setout: Your own wording goes anywhere on your page, and you can change it yourself.

  6. Booking that fits a routine

Regular customers want the same day and time, and one-off customers want to grab a slot without a phone call. Make both easy.

On Setout: Customers pick a service and a time online. You get the booking by email; they get a confirmation and an email reminder. (The Freshfold design uses its quote form instead of online booking.)

  7. Your insurance and the areas you cover

Say that you carry public liability insurance, and name the towns you cover so Google shows you to people nearby.

On Setout: Add your towns in the editor and the Freshfold design lists them as the areas you cover. We also put them in your page title ("Cleaner in Reading"), so Google can see where you work.

How it works

  1. Tell us about your business

Fill in the form below. We'll call you the same working day, weekdays, if you ask before 3pm. Ask after 3pm or at the weekend and we'll call you the next working day. Send us your current website or Facebook page, a few photos, your services and the area you cover. One phone call is usually enough.

  2. We build it

We build your site on a design made for cleaners, with your services, your area, your reviews and a way for customers to reach you. It's usually ready within a couple of days.

  3. You see it on your phone before you pay

We send you a private link. Look at it on your phone, show it to whoever you like and tell us what to change. You pay nothing until it goes live.

See it before you pay, then 30 days to change your mind

  • £39 a month including VAT, or £390 for the year. One price for the whole business, however many of you there are.
  • Nothing to pay until it's live. Building it and previewing it cost nothing.
  • A full refund within 30 days of your first payment if it isn't right for you.
  • Cancel any time. There's no contract, and no setup fee.
  • Your web address is included while you subscribe, along with hosting and security.
  • Change it yourself from your phone, or ask us and we'll do it.

Questions cleaners ask us

How quickly can you build a website for my cleaning business?

Usually within a couple of days of our call. Send us your services, your prices, a photo or two and the towns you cover. You see the site on your phone before you pay anything.

Can regular customers book their cleans online?

Yes. Customers pick a service and a time; you get the booking by email and they get a confirmation and an email reminder before each visit.

Does the quote form work out a price for the customer?

No. It asks the questions that set your price and sends you the answers, so you can reply with a quote in one message. Your prices for standard cleans can sit on the page as well.

I already get work from Checkatrade or a Facebook page. Do I need a website as well?

Keep them both. Directories send you enquiries and Facebook keeps regulars in touch, but neither is yours. A website on your own address is where Google sends people who search for your trade and town, where a customer checks you out before they ring and where enquiries come straight to you with no fee per lead. Your Facebook page and your website can link to each other.

Can I change my prices myself?

Yes, from your phone. Click the price, type the new one and save. Or tell us and we'll change it for you.

What does it cost, and is there a contract?

£39 a month including VAT, or £390 for the year. That's for the whole business, with hosting, security and your web address included, and no setup fee. There's no contract, so you can cancel any time, and if it isn't right for you we'll refund your first payment in full within 30 days. You pay nothing at all until your site is live.

Tell us about your business. We'll build your site and send you the link to see it before you pay.

We'll call you the same working day, weekdays, if you ask before 3pm. Ask after 3pm or at the weekend and we'll call you the next working day. There's nothing to pay until your site is live.
